Attention Steelheaders... Be sure to drop in and get registered in advance for the Wally Hall Jr. Memorial Steelhead Derby (runs Dec 1 - Mar 15). If you are planning on participating in the Wall Hall derby you'll need to get your number a day in advance of weighing a fish in. Out-of-towners can phone in with a credit card.

River jumped up 25cm since yesterday and is a caramel latte colour at the Crossing. Go big or go home is our recommendation for the lower river / canal. Heading further up river above the slide area may be more productive until things settle down. Not much rain in the forecast so the river should clean up for this afternoon and be in much better shape tomorrow. FYI, a dropping river can be one of the best times to fish. Gear fisherman are starting to transition to spinners, spoons, and Colorado blades. However, fishing a good chunk of roe, or a bait sack with a piece of white wool is always a great option. For flies, glo-bug's, Squamish Poachers, black/blue bunny leaches, Intruders, and egg sucking leeches, are all excellent options. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for pics and up to date derby info. Please check the DFO Pacific Fishery Notices or Region 2 Summary Page regularly for changes to retention opportunities. Cultus Lake is an excellent fishery, even this time of year. If you're looking for something to do there are rainbow, cutthroat, suckers and pike minnows.
